Hundreds of commercial uses of soluble silicates have evolved as a result of their versatile functionality and low cost. Silicates are a key raw material for many chemical processes but are also critical components in the manufacture of many everyday products such as detergents, paper stock, textiles, paint, fuel, etc. Some examples of the specialty silicates that PQ Europe offers are:

• Sodium Silicate solutions, weight ratio 3,2 to 3,4
  Sodium silicate solutions with weight ratio’s from 3,2 to 3,4 are available in various densities and purities and used as key raw material for many chemical processes. High ratio silicates up to 3,70 are available upon request.

• Potassium silicate solutions, weight ratio 2,0 to 2,5
  Potassium silicate solutions with weight ratio’s from 2,0 to 2,5 are available in various densities & purities and used as raw material for many chemical processes.

• Ambosol®
  Ambosol magnesium silicates are used in polyol manufacturing to absorb undesired impurities. PQ Europe offers grades with high and selective absorptivity and specific filtration performance.

• Antef
  Antef is a silicate-based binder for foundry molds. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to most organic chemical binder systems applied in foundries.

• Apsil
  Under the Apsil brand name, PQ Europe supplies a product range of silicates that are specifically used:
  • for the ink removal in the recycling process of waste paper and
  • as an essential part in peroxide bleaching of mechanical pulps

• Aquasil
  Aquasil silicates are used as trace elements for health protection in marine biocultures such as fish farming.

• Corrosil
  The product range of Corrosil is applied in municipal potable water systems as a corrosion inhibitor and for the removal and prevention of ironhydroxide scaling. Corrosil is also applied as a coagulation aid in waste water treatment plants.

• ECODRILL®
  Water based drilling muds for offshore and on-shore oil rigs are based on Ecodrill silicates.

• KASIL® Potassium Silicate
  For manufacturing of silicate based paints, PQ Europe offers modified potassium silicate binders that have the required rheology performance.

• Posifeed
  Posifeed is a potassium silicate that is applied as specialty fertilizer for the horticultural growing of crops, vegetables and flowers.

• Stixsil^TM Sodium Silicate
  PQ Europe developed the Stixsil products as silicate adhesives for paper tube and core manufacturing.
